When I go to the "File" tab on the tool bar, and click on "open," the box
opens with no problems. But when I click on the down arrow, nothing happens.
In about 15 to 45 seconds, it sometimes says "not responding" and other times
the MS standard message comes up that the program needs to shut down.
Off is on a Dell Laptop I got about a year ago. The problem started 4
months ago, for no apparent reason. Dell has not specific answer.
Run Windows XP, will all updates.
Any ideas?

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, left-click
on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped drives that are
not currently available.
