Word 2002 latency problem

I have one user who is having a problem working in Word 2002 working on
Windows XP Pro. When she is typing in the program, it will suddenly stop
responding. If she waits, sometimes 30 seconds or sometimes 4-5 minutes, it
will pick up where she left off typing and start responding again. This keeps
happening intermittantly and is really disruptive to getting her job done.

I've tried uninstalling Word and reinstalling it through Add/Remove
Programs. The latency still shows up.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Most often, this is a third party add-in causing the problem. However, if
you try going thorugh the steps in the FAQ, it should help locate the
problem.  http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm

Terry,

I got a suggestion from another source to try renaming the normal.dot file
and see what happens. I saw that in the article that you sent and I'll try
that first. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know.
