problem with word 2007

After editing any documents created with older version of word
when closing word,  the program quits fine but I always receive the same
message

"The program stopped workind for a problem. Windows will close the program
now and will notify you if a solution exists" (sorry for the bad
translation ).

I'm running office enterprise edition on a windows vista home premium based
machine.

I've tried almost everything possible:

1. Renaming Normal.dotm (location varies, but in Vista it should be
somewhere like:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

(done with no results)

2. Renaming or deleting the Data key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

(done with no results)

3. Word is reacting to a "bad" printer driver. Try (temporarily, at least)
making a different printer your default.

(done with no results)

4. Word is reacting to a "bad" display driver. See if there are updated
drivers for your display adapter.

(done with no results)

Finally,  I've created a new user (from control panel) with administrator
privileges and the error goes out, but I would like to keep on working with
my exisitng user account because of mail, programs preferences, and so). So,
now we exactly know where the problem is...what should I do to keep on
working without creating a new user ?.

Thanks a lot for your support,

Regards,
Carlos

I finally found a "solution". If I select another printer (a pdf printer for
example) as my default, the problem goes out and everything's fine. This
only happens with word 2007.

Anyone know how to solve this issue without reinstalling all my printer
software (an hp officejet j5780 all-in-one)? Is there anything I can do in
word preferences to avoid this "bug"?

P.S. This problem is only present in word, the rest of the suit works
perfectly.

Thank you very much,
Sincerely yours,
C. Llerandi

This would seem to point to the printer driver as being the problem, so
uninstalling and reinstalling the driver seems to be indicated. You might,
while you're at it, check to see if an updated driver is available.
