Highlight any text.
Hover over the translucent in-line formatting bar that's new with Word 2007
(I'm not sure what it's called -- it shows up faintly next to highlighted
text).
Click the fontname drop down combo box (which results in the current font
name being highlighted).
Type the number '5'
Click the fontsize drop down combo box

Word invariably crashes (well, as long as you don't have a font named '5' on
the system).
The crash does not happen, by the way, if you hit 'enter' after you type the
number '5'.

Sigh.  Just another Microsoft bug.  And I wasn't hunting for it either, just
entering my desired font size in the wrong box by accident.

Nope not a bug and not reproducible. It's something on your machine and my
guess is the printer driver is either out-of-date or partially corrupt -
though it may be something else but the printer driver is most likely. Check
that you have the latest driver for your printer/OS and then delete and
reinstall the printer.

Sorry about that.  I didn't realize that it's okay for a printer driver
problem to cause Microsoft Word to crash.  I'll set my standards lower in the
future.  And know I know that when Gates said Vista was all about the 'wow'
factor, he wasn't kidding.

Word uses the printer driver to set the layout of the document. If the
printer driver is bad, Word won't work.
