Word 2007 Hangs on Splash Screen

Hi, I just finished restoring a copy of Vista via the "rename windows.old"
method, and everything is fine except for Word 2007, which opens the splash
screen and then just sits there.  The only way to close it is to end the
WINWORD process.  Opening in safe mode seems to open the program, and I'm
able to create a new document, but attempting to open any document has it
hang at "Running Virus Scan..."  Strangely, Excel and Powerpoint work fine.
I tried repairing the install with the installation disc first, then
removing just Word and reinstalling it, and last, entirely removing Office
and then reinstalling it.  So I'm guessing whatever in Office is causing this
problem isn't removed during an uninstall.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
K

Okay, got it fixed.  For anyone else whoever runs into a similar problem:

I didn't realize that in restoring Windows from the "Windows.old" folder my
old program registry was lost.  So even, though I replaced the programdata
folder and program files folders, some things weren't quite jiving.  This
problem was an antivirus problem, which was fixed by uninstalling and
reinstalling Norton.
