MS Office Forum / Word / Word Errors / May 2008Word 2007 Professional Document Will Not Open Documents or Close
I try clicking on a document on the desktop to open it in Word. Word starts, but there is no document, not even a blank one. I can open documents from inside of Word, but that's it. When I then try to close word (no problems saving), it ALWAYS says that Word is not responding and it is searching for errors. It never finds an answer and eventually asks if I just want to shut the program. Also, my microsoft wireless mouse does not fully work either! Do you have an HP printer set as the default printer? If you don't have another, simply install one from the Windows CD - a LaserJet 4 will suffice for tests - and set it a the Windows Default printer. Test again now. If it works OK, go to the HP support site and report the problem with the printer driver. There have been many many problems with recent HP drivers for both Multi-function and Inkjets. I uninstalled the printer, the drivers, and everything associated with Photosmart, as well as office. I re-installed Office, and had the same problem. So, I'll just live with 2003 for a bit unless you have any other ideas. Thanks! > Try switching to a different printer.
