error starting MS Word 97

When I start MS Word 2000 as part of Office 2000 prof i get the following errormessage
"This application is not installed to run. Please run Setup from the location you originally installed the application from.

What causes this and more importent how do I solve this
I did remove the software, deleted all office directories and (local machine + current user) software-microsoft-office registry entry. But after reinstalling the software the same problem appeared
All order program s (Access, Powerpoint, Excel) work fin

Hi Jacques,

Are you trying to start Word 97 or Word 2000? Your Subject indicates
one version and your post another. :-)

Additionally, did you try reinstalling Office? What OS are you
installing it on? Does the message occur on a Administrator account?
