I have Word 2002.   My spell check is no longer working.
WHen I click for spell check, the message I get is that
spell check hs been completed notwithstanding that there
are obvious spelling errors.

Hi Jeff,

As I understand your spell check is not working. Is this
issue occuring with all word documents or only with one?

If issue is not document speciefic try this steps:
1. Close all apps
2. Go to Start --> Run --> type in
winword.exe /a (note: there is a space after exe)
3. Click OK
4. Word should open now
5. Go to file--> open and open any Word document, try to
run spellcheck
6. If you were able to perform spellcheck error free
here, close out of Word and follow the next set of
instructions.

1. Close all apps
2. Go to Start--> Search (find win98)--> type in
normal.dot (make sure you are searching your local drive
and you are searching in hidden files and folders, system
files and subfolders) --> click search button (find now
win 98)
3. You may have multiple search resolts.
4. For each file found, right click on the file, go to
rename and rename it as normal.old, normal1.old and so on
until you rename all the files.
5. Close the search window and open Word the way you
normally do.
6. Try to use the spellcheck

Hope this helps!

Select all the text in the document and go to Tools | Language | Set
Language. Make sure that the box for "Do not check spelling and grammar" is
not checked and that the language is set to the appropriate one.
