Hi All,

I am running windows 98 se and office 97.  For some reason I can't save a
document as html in word 97.  I get an error message saying that the
selected text converter is an old version and will not work in this version.
This is the only version of office I have on this system.  I can't seem to
get anyone to answer this question for me.  Any help would be greatly
appreciated.  Thanks,

Hi terry,

I installed sr1.  For some reason I can't install sr2.  I get an error
saying there are multiple copies of office on my system.  I went so far as
to un-install office and delete the folders and then re-installing it with
no luck.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks,

It is a rather bizarre problem and I am concerned that you cannot get SR2a
to install. I recommend that you run the uninstall by going to Control
Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select Office 97 and remove Office. Then click
on this link
http://download.microsoft.com/download/office97std/Utility/4.0/WIN98MeXP/EN-US/E
raser97.exe

and download the eraser97.exe utility. Run the utility which removes all
vestiges of office 97. Run a full ScanDisk and follow up with a full defrag
of your HDD.

Then reinstall Office 97 afresh and install both SR1 and SR2a patches.

Hi Terry,

Should I go ahead and delete the microsoft office folders under program
files?

No as deleting doesn't uninstall Office. You really need to run Office Setup
and uninstall it. The run the eraser utility. Deleting does not do a good
job and the problem may simply remain.

Hi Terry,

I didn't explain this well.  I ment to ask if I should delete the folders
after preforming the un-install and defrag and such.
