Help With Buying Word Upgrade

I want to do a "clean install" of Word 2003--after a format and reinstall of
Windows.
Would my OEM Works Suite CD qualify for the upgrade version?
Also, I notice that there is an edition "For Students and Teachers." Is this
a full version?
I am a RETIRED teacher (after 35 years). Would that qualify me for this
edition of Word?
I'm curious as to how this works. Do students and teachers not need
"qualifying" versions? How do they qualify for the use of this edition?
Thanks.

This site:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/word/howtobuy/default.mspx#XSLTsection126121120120

indicates that Works 6.0 or later and Works Suite 2001 and later are
qualifying products for Word 2003 upgrade.

However I would compare price for the upgrade versions of Word 2003 and the
price of the latest Works Suite {which includes Word} {Note: Suite and just
Works}.  You may find the Works Suite on sale at a lower price.

Office 2003 Standard for Teachers and Students is for current teachers and
students.  The product includes full versions of all the applications that
are included in Office 2003 Standard. You can find out what applications are
in each edition of Office 2003 at:

http://office.microsoft.com/home/default.aspx

The Office 2003 for Teachers and Students is a non-upgrade edition thus no
qualifying product is required.

Thanks very much for all of that information.
A current student or teacher would have to verify that status somehow in
order to install and use Word. I was curious as to how that might be done.

I don't believe they have to verify. But if they are not, they are in
violation of the EULA which would be a significant problem in a business
environment.

If you can buy the Students and Teachers version (the "proof" is at point of
purchase), you can install it. Also note that the current version of Works
Suite includes Word 2002, not 2003, though for your purposes the differences
might not be significant.
