Everytime I open a pre-existing document with any Office
program such as Access, Excel, Word and so on I receive
an error message stating that C://..../THE FILE NAME.doc
is being used.  Do you want to make a copy?

Why does this happen and how do I fix it?  I have a Dell
Dimension 4600C, if that matters.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Diane

Hi, Diane C.  If you are running Norton/Symantec Antivirus, try disabling the Office Plugin that comes with it.  See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=329820 if you need instructions on how to do this.

I wish I were running Norton because then my problem
would be solved.  Thanks for responding.
