Please help us. I'm writing for a group of us who have
been having problems with Word not correctly numbering and
placing footnotes in a document.
The program seems to work properly for a number of
footnotes, but then after some footnotes have been edited
and/or deleted, the reference number skips, so for
instance, it might be fine from 1-22, but then the next
number is 24, not 23.
Additionally, instead of placing the footnote at the
bottom of the page on which the reference number is
located, it is placed immediately after the previous
footnote which, in this instance, is three pages EARLIER!!!
Can anyone help me understand what is wrong and how we can
edit and change these footnotes and correct them?

If you are tracking changes, footnote numbering is likely to be incorrect
until you have accepted all changes.
