I have Microsoft Word 2000.  When I save a file, then re-
open it, it says:  The File <filename> is not available.
I went to the knowledge base area and their suggestion
was to save the file to a different location, since the
place where I'm trying to save my file is not available.

What does that mean exactly? How can I make that place
available, and what other locations can I save my files
in?

As a side note, if this helps, at the bottom left it also
says: Requesting virus scan...

Okay, if you could help me in any way, that would be
great!

You need to disable the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus. See "OFF: Cannot
Open Office Documents or Cannot Edit Inserted Objects After You Install
Office XP Service Pack 2 or Office 2000 Service Pack 3" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=328613
