"WINWORD HAS CAUSED AN ERROR IN WINWORD.EXE. WINWORD WILL
NOW CLOSE. IF YOU CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS, TRY
RESTARTING YOUR COMPUTER."
The following did not work:
1. reinstalling word from CD-ROM
2. repairing word for CD-ROM
3. reload entire Works package
Any suggestions to repair this problem?
Thanks!

I found the fix after trying something I found on here.
SEARCH for a file named normal.dot and copy it to your
desktop naming it normal.dot
Then rename the original file normal2.dot
Launch word and see if it works. If it works then discard
the normal.dot on the desktop.
Good luck!

Start Word from Start > Run using Winword.exe /a
If that works OK your problem is either in normal.dot or in an add-in.
Corruption to normal.dot is the most common (reinstalling leaves this file
in place, and thus doesn't help). Rename it to normal_old.dot and restart
Word.
