Hello, I went to open Word 2000 SR1-a this morning and
while Word opened, the window within the window (where the
text and tools reside) were clear, I could see my desktop
through Word.  It didn't resolve after a reboot.  Any
ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Try opening Word and Excel (or any other App) at the same time. Right-click
on the Taskbar and choose one of the Tile options. Does that bring your Word
back into view?

I've encountered this too and changing the Display Properties seemed
to rectify the problem.
