Can anyone tell me how to open MS Works Word Processor
Version 6.0 w/MS Word 97 ?

I have MS Works which came with Millenium on my HP laptop,
where I've created and stored hundreds of files. (The
software included with my laptop purchase only included a
recovery disc, which installs Works along with Millenium)

Now I have a new desktop with XP Professional, and I've
installed Word 97 where I need to locate all my Works
files.  After transfering all the data, I've found that I
can't read any of it.  I know that I can re-save all my
docs in rich text form, but that's too time consuming. I
have too many documents.

Short of having to go out and buy MS Works 6.0 to install
on my desktop, is there any other freeware or downloads
which will help me out?

Please reply to my e-mail address above. Thanks, Richard

Richard,

Follow this link to Microsoft's answer.  Follow the directions and you
should be in business.

It worked for me with Word 2000.
