I am a novelist with a six-months-old new HP PAVILION
A250N. WORD came with it. I have two major problems:
1) I save my back-up document to E (CD,DVD) but when I
callb it up in Word I cannot use the GO TO (page) or FIND
and when I try the computer freezes up and I have to re-
start.
2) I have FILE EXPRESS, a DOS program I've used for
years. When I bought the computer they salesman at the
store told me there was a way I could use DOS programs
with my XP syster. I've read the instructions in the
WINDOWS XP HOME manual but although I get the program to
come up it flashes back to the desktop when I try to
access (i.e.) ADD.

As for (2), my best suggestion would be: Give it up. XP doesn't lik
DOS. See if there is a Windows version of File Express, or find
Windows program that does the same thing. Try www.hotfiles.com ? yo
can download and try lots of software for free.
As for (1), does it happen on every cd you write? Does it happen wit
every Word file? To eliminate some possibilities, have someone els
write a Word document to a cd using a different computer and try th
"go to" function on that cd
