Exporting documents to .txt files

I often have to export Word documents to text files, I do
this by simply saving the file as a .txt file.

However there are three issues that cause me problems:

1.    I require the files to be UTF-8 text files rather
than standard ANSI but I can't find an option that will
allow me to save the document as a UTF-8 encoded text file.

2.    Any text that is in a text box is not included in
the .txt file.

3.    Any tables lose their formatting i.e. they become
a list, so I have to manually change them to tab delimited.

If anyone could offer any help on the above points it
would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Felix

You should try BCL Jade.  It will allow you to convert to ANSI or
Unicode text.  It should export all of the text on a page, regardless
of whether it's in a text box.  (However, it will not export text that
has been added as an annotation; the text must be part of the PDF
page.)

Jade allows you to specify whether the contents you are extracting are
text, table, or graphics.  Table "zones" in a PDF are exported as
delimited text (tab-delimited by default, but you can select a
different delimiter).

If you need to be able to automatically convert files to text, you
might consider using Jade COM.  The COM version works best with files
that follow a standard template.

Free demos of Jade are available from our website at
http://www.bcltechnologies.com.
