Word to WordPerfect

Hello,

I am having trouble converting Word docs to WordPerfect.

We are a law firm and do most of our work in Word,
however, we need to be able to convert some Word
documents to WordPerfect. (Certain judges require it for
electronic filing - don't ask.) We use Word XP, and will
likely move to 2003 at some point soon. We use
WordPerfect 9 and will likely  move to v.11 at some point.

When I try to save a Word file as a WordPerfect file (5.x
for Windows is the most recent version in the drop-down
list) I get the standard "certain formatting will be
lost" message and then the following msg: "Word cannot
save WP 5.x for Windows files. The converter for this
format can only open files." And nothing is saved. When I
try to open the same file from within WordPerfect, I get
an "unknown file format" message and nothing happens.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you,
Lara

Hi, Lara Z.  If you have a computer with Word 97 or Word 2000, copy the
WPFT632.CNV file from that computer to the folder in your computer where
the text converters are located (in my computer, that folder is
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv).

Thank you. I installed the *.cnv file as instructed
below. I am still getting the same errors and cannot
convert files.

I am also checking with the judges (regarding C Kenyon's
suggestion to see if they will take PDF instead) but am
not optimistic, despite PDF being the logical solution.
They often have odd requirements for their documents that
don't make sense but with which we still must comply.

We will likely have to resort to a 3P utility if the
judges will not accept PDFs. Thanks for all the input.

Also, check with the judges and see if they can accept pdf files instead of
WP files. They would certainly be able to read them.
