I am using Word 97, SR-1. I have been using a document with text only, but
recently after I had saved the document, it now come up in a strange format.
I have several e-mail addresses in the document and now for each e-mail a
?HYPERLINK MAILTO: (a valid e-mail address)? statement is inserted. Also,
the header and footer messages appear as messages in the document rather
that header and footer messages. After this, the e-mail messages and text
are repeated several times. Now each time I recall the message, it is in
the strange format.
I would appreciate any help you can give me in solving my problem.
Thanks,
Al

Thanks for responding to my message. Unfortunately, Alt+F9 did not make any
difference in the document. Do you have any more suggestions?
Thanks,

Al,
You start out talking about a Word doc, but it sounds
like it is an email message. This is only a guess, but
if it was an RTF (rich text format) or Word email, but
you now have your email set up as plain text, the email
will look different (as it does). If you're using
Outlook, take a look at the mail format under
Tools>Options>Mail Format. Need a little more info to be
sure.
Cheers
Chris

Thanks for answering my posting. I just created a .doc file with the
following info:
AAAAAAAAAA
e-mail: al@avoidvirus.com
but when I clicked on 'Enter' it was changed to {HYPERLINK
mailto:alt@avoidvirus.com}
I would appreciate any more suggest you might have?

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "Field codes" box
| OK.

Thanks for answering my posting. The "Field codes" box was already
unchecked. The sample program I created works OK when I use Alt+F9, so I
guess I have a different problem in my regular program. I think I will just
use the editor to remove the unwanted statements in the program.
Thanks
