Hi Nico,
As mentioned in response to your similar message in
the MS Office newsgroup the MS Office XP Resource Kit (ORK)
has the tools and the specific steps needed to upgrade
Office 97 to Office XP from a Network installation source
http://microsoft.com/office/ork/xp
Using a volume license/enterprise key for Office XP
create an Office Administrtive Installation Point using
the instructions in the ORK, add the Administrative
updates to the Admin Install Point then deploy to
the workstations after first using test machines to
try the scenarios.
Office XP runs on Windows 98 machines.
Access 2002 uses a different file format than older
versions of Access but you can use the ORK to set
the default to the older format. The other files
have similar formats with newer features and in general
the documents migrate successfully but there can always
be features that act differently.
You can also find additional information on
http://microsoft.com/technet in articles and features
about deploying MS Office.
