Hi Yiggie,
It depends on the version of Word you're using on
what Word can do. Word 2003 Professional Edition
has features not found in Word 2003 from other Office
Editions (such as applying your own schema), but all
Word 2003 versions can open from and save to XML
using the WordProcessingML built in schema.
You may want to post in the Office XML newsgroup (link
below) and include some specifics on the format of your
document and your scenario.

We have a Word-based template and an XML doc which serves as a feed into a
Word document that is based on the template.
Could anyone please advise on what would be the best way to importing the
XML data into an MS Word document.
