Convert text to tables (with a complication)

Hi,

I have a long list of words in English, and their corresponding
meanings in Japanese.  I'd like to convert the list to a table with the
English word in one column and the corresponding Japanese word in an
adjacent column.

I'd formatted the words so that the English word is in one font and
size, while the corresponding Japanese word is in a different font and
size.

There is only a single space separating the English and Japanese words.
At the end of each entry is an <ENTER> (new paragraph)

Is there any easy way to convert this list into a table???

I'd really not like to have to re-type the list.

Any help, much appreciated?

G'Day Janey,

IF
there is only ONE space in each line
THEN
Make a backup copy of the file
Use Search and Replace to Replace All spaces " " with Tabs "^t".
   Use Table>Convert>Text to table
ELSE
   Do it the hard way
END IF

Change the space separating your columns to a tab. (This is what Pat Garard
is suggesting.) Then, use the conversion feature under the tables menu in
Word.

Actually, I don't believe it's necessary to change the space to a tab.
Just highlight the two-word list and select convert Text to Table, and
in the options box select to separate text at "other" and enter a
space in the box.

Bearing in mind that if any of the words (English or Japanese) contain a
space you'll get an error (for both methods). Unlikely in English but
can the same be said for Japanese?

Actually, you're quite likely to end up with spaces with the translations
for both languages, since each can have words that represent a concept that
requires a phrase to express in the other.

Cheers
