Is it possible to convert a text manuscript that contains (hand coded)
text descriptions of styles into actual Microsoft Word styles? A
simple example of this would be <H1> for a range of text where H1
=Helvetica bold. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Cheers,
Danny

I'm not positive what you're asking. What do you mean by "hand coded"? If
you mean, for example, that you'd like to convert all text formatted  with
Helvetica Bold to Heading 1 (or H1), that's quite simple, using Find &
Replace or using the Styles & Formatting task pane. For Find & Replace,
click the More button at the bottom. The Format control lets you search for
and replace formatting.
