I'm having a problem opening certain HTML documents in Word 2002.  A good
portion of the text is lost.

The same HTML file opens ok in Word 2000.

Any ideas what to look for or how to resolve?

TIA

Hi Peter,

Generally the converter for opening HTML files
is the same.  Is there a URL for a page where
you're seeing this?

When you say text is lost, is it in a table?

Do you have Confirm Conversions at Open turned on
in Tools=>Options=>General and does Word verify
it as an HTML document when you use File=>Open?

I've actually found the cause of the problem.  It was an XML declaration
midway through the document (everything that followed it was ignored).  Once
I removed it, the HTML converted without a hitch.

Still, it's curious why this same HTML would convert fine in Word 2000, but
failed with XP. I'd like to what, if any, configuration setting might be
controlling this behaviour.
