Like some other people, I have an older machine that came
with windows 95 and works 4.0. I bought a new computer
that came with windows xp and word 2000. Copied the
works files to the new computer but word 2000 will not
open the old works files. Was prompted to insert the xp
disc and follow the instructions. Did that but no dice.
I understand there is a conversion download, or something
similiar, but I don't really understand how to get to it
or how to "install ??" once aquired. I did not grow up
using computers like my children, so I find them
extremely frustating at times. Can some kind soul please
point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!!

Hi Tony,
The converter for Works v4 word processor files
is included with Word 2000. In Add/Remove Programs
in the Windows Control panel choose the Microsoft Word
or Office choice and set the additional converter to
'run from my computer' status. In Word turn on
[x] Confirm Conversions at Open in Tools=>Options=>General
then open the .wps file.
