Fonts are in Fonts folder, lost to Word & Access

When I go to use Word, or to print a report via Access, I don't get Arial and
Old English fonts.  Word only displays New Times Roman in the Fonts box, the
drop-down list doesn't drop down.  Reports come out in some fixed font from
Access.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled MS OfficeXP and Publisher.  I have copied the
fonts from Windows\Fonts to c:\temp, then deleted them from Windows\Fonts,
and reinstalled them from c:\temp.  Nothing works.  I saw prior
correspondence on how to reinstall, stating one should get Fonts from Windows
XP Install CD.  My machine came without CDs, but has Windows Install
somewhere within 10G's that I can't get at.  I do have 7 "System Recovery"
CDs with helpful labels reading "WinXP Home Edition disc1 [thru 7] " , but I
suspect that if I put them in my CD reader, all I could do with them is
destroy myself.  Could someone please point me to the answer to the question
"How can I restore my fonts?"  Thanks in advance,

Two things to try:
 1.  In Word, click on Tools | Options | Print | uncheck the "Draft output"
box | OK.
 2.  In Windows, click on Start | Control Panel | Printers.  If the default
printer is None, Fax, or Generic/Text Only, then select a default printer
that is capable of printing fonts, and you will see more font choices in Word.

It was the default printer that fixed it.  I had been coaching one of my
users on how to install the generic/text printer for an older app that used
fixed-font print.  Thanks a bunch.  I can stop pulling out my hair.

Your solution fixed my problem too! I had uninstalled my default printer and
hadn't selected another one. Thanks so much!
