I have spent 6 hours trying to print page numbers on a multi-page doc. I do
not want page numbers on pages 1-5 (these pages have info in other footers)
and would like page 6 to be the first page number starting with number 1. Can
anyone help?
You need to insert a Next Page Break at the end of page 5. Once you have
done that you want to click on View | header and footer and on the toolbar
click on Same As Previous to unlink the footers. You can then start your page
numbering on the sixth page starting with one. I hope this has been helpful
to you.

Thanks for your prompt response Carol. Unfortunately that didn't work. I
seem to have several headers/footer, and have done so many different things
to make this work that I don't even know where I am! When I did what you
stated, it inserted a blank next page...would that be correct?

Thanks Charles. I had already read this info and my document is such a mess
it seems that I can't make any sense of it. I can't find a single "live"
person who understands Word's page numbering enough to look at what I have on
my hands. I've deleted and started over at least twice and hope to not have
to do that again.

I'd be happy to take a look at your document for you Madison. Can you attach
it or e-mail it to me?

I looked at Madison's document and she had one section break too many. As
soon as I removed it and inserted the page numbers into the footer, it worked
just fine.
