TAP - 15 Mar 2006 01:58 GMT I've looked everywhere and found all sorts of keyboard shortcuts. I can't find 3, they are: selecting current word, selecting current sentence, and selecting paragraph. Can anyone out there help me. :(TAP
Carol - 15 Mar 2006 02:46 GMT F8 - once to select a word, twice to select a sentence and thrice to select a paragraph.

It's a dumb question, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. :)

Franz (RMF) - 15 Mar 2006 11:49 GMT Hi Graham

Greetinx Rober ---> heavy mouse user!

Sorry 'bout that! Robert

TAP - 16 Mar 2006 00:28 GMT Okay, you guys got me. I tried all of these keys and nothing works (esc or arrow keys), any other suggestions on turning off the F8 key when it's in select mode? TAP

Barnhill - 16 Mar 2006 04:56 GMT According to Word's Help, ESC is the correct key. It turns F8 off, but it doesn't unselect the selected text. To do that, you have to use an arrow key. This didn't work for me the first time I tried it, but then I couldn't get it to not work on subsequent trials. <sigh>

I'm actually a heavy mouse user too. I'm currently doing a computer class at Santa Ana College and it required a keyboard shortcut assignment. I have 3 different printouts showing keyboard shortcuts I took off of MS and none of them talks about my original question of using the keyboard only and selecting text. Amazing. Thanks again for reading carefully on my request and answering my question. I'll try the escape. TAP

TAP Your welcome! FWIW, for selecting (portions of) text, I mainly use SHIFT + the arrow keys in combination with HOME, END, CTRL, etc.

Suzanne S. Barnhill - 15 Mar 2006 02:48 GMT Double-click to select a word, Ctrl+click to select a sentence (more or less). Triple-click (or double-click in the left margin) to select a paragraph. All these shortcuts are listed in Word's Help under "Keyboard shortcuts."

Can anyone out there help me. :(TAP TAP - 15 Mar 2006 09:10 GMT Thank you for responding, but I was looking for a keyboard shortcut without using the mouse with the clicks, I know how to do that. I did find out the F8 is the key to use in doing all 3 that I needed to find out about. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to turn on the select mode once it's turned on. Thanks again for responding :)!

Barnhill - 15 Mar 2006 16:16 GMT D'oh! I enter text with the keyboard and edit with the mouse, so I just wasn't thinking!
