When I delete a block, I have to confirm Y or N. Why?

When I highlight a word or block and hit the delete key, "Delete Block? No
Yes" appears at the bottom of my window.  I have to select "n" or "y" to
continue the task.

The second thing is when I hit "home", I now have to follow that by hitting
the left curser key to complete the action.

This just occurred today.  I've tried to reboot (warm and cold); ran a
repair, tried a restore point (which failed 4 times) and still no change.
This problem is specific to my set up; I can log on as someone else and these
2 problems do not occur.

I've searched help and the MS site with not answers.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two
boxes for WordPerfect help and navigation | OK.
