The page numbering in my word document footer is highlighted and I would like to remove it. The document is on a common drive and if I access it from a different computer the page numbers are not highlighted. Do you mean a grey shaded background? If the latter, does it disappear if you set field shading to "None" or "When selected" on the View tab of Tools | Options?  SignatureSuzanne S.
