page numbers table of contents

my page numbers are duplicating when I update my table of contents, like
this:  1414-1515, when it should only read 14-15.

Are you sure this is a TOC? Because a TOC field does not by default produce
inclusive numbers (you can have inclusive numbers in an index). If your TOC
is producing inclusive numbers, then there may be some macro involved.
