using XP why can't I see what I am typing in word 2007

When using word 2007 with XP as the OS, the font defaults to calibi 11 which
I cannot see on the page.  I have tried to select other fonts but still I
can't see them.  The only way of seeing what I am doing is by using the
'draft' option.  This does not affect Vista.

See if the default font is formatted in white colour.
