Windows XP - Office 2000. Excel and Power Point open OK. Tried reloading
Office from my disk. Same result. Might I need to create a new normal.dot?
(Where is that link with instructions anyway?) PS: Sometimes when I initiate
the shutdown I get a "Program Not Responding" box for ccApp.exe. Meaningful?
Can't ctrl/alt/del and exit from task manager, it doesn't show as a running
program. Now I'm really confused!!! Any help is appreciated..
Windows XP = Office 2003 PRO. I've been experiencing exactly the same
problems for the past few days. Other components work OK, only Word. Why
would a new normal.dot work?

A new normal.dot (which only Word can create - when that file is missing)
may work because corruption of that file is one of the principle causes of
Word failures. The others are covered in the linked web pages.
