I need to do a mutable text change. What I mean is that I have a rather
large document, that has several entries of "P3" which I need to change
to "ACP". Is there a way to do that with out having to go through the
whole document and make individual changes?

Have you tried the Replace function (Edit menu .... Replace)?  Then select
"replace all".
