Using Office Small Business Edition 2003.
I have used MS Word from this suite to create a document along with a table
of contents. At the end of the TOC I inserted a page and section break.
Clicked on the insert dropdown menu and selected insert page numbers.
I want to use lower case letters, i.e. i, ii, iii, etc for the TOC pages. No
problem there it works as advertised. However, when I get to the first page
of the document I want to use the regular numbers i.e., 1, 2, 3, etc. When I
format this pages (after the page and section breaks) the whole document
gets renumbered with the regular numbers.
Yes I am out of the TOC when I try to insert the regular pages.
I know I am missing something very simple, but I can't seem to find the
mistake.
Thank you in advance for the help.

In Word 2003 search in Help for "Specify how to start or restart page
numbering."
It lays it out.
I had the same result you did till I found that part and tried it.

Thank you Richard. Worked the way you said it would.
