Is there a way to import a dictionary into Word 2002?

I have an extensive dictionary on one computer and the like to
transfer to another computer.

Thank you,

TJH

Do you mean a custom/personal spelling dictionary? If so, it's likely a .dic
file. Copy it to the target computer, then choose Tool - Options - Spellings
and Grammar - Custom Dictionaries - Add, etc.

I'm just trying to export/import dictionary I've personally created
from one pc to another.

Where do I find this .dic file?

Thanks,

TJH

On my system its location is:

"C:\Documents and Settings\{My Name}\Application
Data\Microsoft\Proof\Custom.dic"

Just search your hard disk for "custom.dic".

A quick way to find it is to go to the source computer, open Word, choose
Tools - Options - Spelling and Grammar - Custom Dictionaries - New. In the
resulting dialog box, right click the .dic file you want to copy, and choose
Copy. This will put it into the clipboard. From there, you can then open
Windows Explorer to paste it to a removable disk, or paste it into an email,
or paste it to a network drive, etc.
