When I perform a spell check (F7) and Word detects a miss-spelled word the
“Spelling and Grammar” box opens. Where the “Ignore Once” button normally is,
the “Undo Edit” is displayed instead. If I click on the “Undo Edit” button,
it will then change to “Ignore Once” and I can proceed as normal.

It always helps if you mention which version of Word is giving you problems...

In this case, I'm guessing the Word DATA key in the Registry has been damaged. This
article contains instructions on how you can force Word to recreate it with the
installation defaults. See if that helps?

(Note: I'd RENAME the key, rather than delete it, as this would allow you to go back to
your customizations if regenerating the key proves not to solve the problem.)
