I cannot get Word to check the spelling, and grammar, of
a document.  It says that "spell check complete", and it
works fine on other documents.  One message indicated
that I might have some text not being checked, but I
cannot see where I might have set that.

I would suggest this:  Use Ctrl-A to select all the text, then
Tools / Language / Set Language, then remove the checkmark (if any) by
"Do not check spelling or grammar.

(I would also turn off "Detect language automatically".  If you work
only in English it doesn't help."

Tell us what happens.

Another possibility is that somebody else might have checked the
document already.  Word "remembers" that.  To recheck a document,
click Tools / Options / Spelling & Grammar tab, click on "Check
Document".
