Hey all,
After a search of the past 3,000+ messages I have not found an answer to
my question so I thought a post would work! :)
Is there a way to move a custom dictionary from Word '97 to Word 2k? Any
help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

If you want to replace the one Word 2K is using, you can copy it to the
location where Word 2000 stores its personal dictionary files (probably in
the Proof folder; varies by version of Word and Windows; mine is in
C:\Documents and Settings\Herb Tyson\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof). If
there's an existing custom.dic you don't want to overwrite, you can rename
it (as well as tell Word to use multiple dictionaries).
Or... just point Word at it without copying or moving it. I don't have Word
2k anymore, so I can't confirm the exact menu sequence, but it's something
like Tools - Options - Spelling & Grammar - Custom Dictionaries - Add,
navigate to the Word 97 custom dictionary's location, select it, and choose
OK.
HTH...
