Spelling Options Cannot be Unchecked

One of the secretary's word options include "hide spelling
errors in this document"  This option is checked and
cannot be unchecked.

How can we fix this?

From the Spelling & Grammar (Tab) Tools > Options, have you unchecked from
under the Spelling (heading) "Check spelling as you type? Its also possible
that it is checking the grammar spelling, so uncheck the appropriate boxes
under the Grammar heading "Spelling & Grammar.
