I have created a graphic using MS Visio 2003.  All text
was done in black.  I've inserted this graphic into a MS
Word 2002 document.  In print view, everything shows up
but when I try to print the document page, the graphic
shapes print but none of the text.  I am using a HP
LaserJet 4Si printer.  I also tried a LaserJet 4 and a
8000.

I also noticed that when the graphic file was inserted
into the document, the background color changed from white
to a shade of gray, same as the color of the text.  When
sent to the printer the background is changed to white
(along with my text?).

A also noticed that .vsd is not a supported graphic format
in MS Word.  How can that be?

Any ideas on how to get my text to print?

Try printing with a lower graphic resolution (600dpi or less).

Adrian,

I've tried both 600 dpi and 300 dpi and received the same
results - no text.

Okay. Actually, it was a bit of a guess based on the fact that there are
identical problems with Visio objects inside FrameMaker files, and printing
at a lower resolution solves those problems. I thought it might be the same
for Word, but it seems not.

I think you should try the hotfix that Bob Buckland suggested.

Hi Marty,

There is a hotfix for Word 2002 that addresses an issue
with printing text that is part of a Visio Drawing object.
A VSD is an object file rather than a graphic format that may
apply.
