I am using Word 2003.  When I try to insert graphic files
(Insert-picture-from file command, )  a "Convert File"
dialog box appears requesting me to select a conversion
format. When I select jpeg - or any other format for that
matter, I receive an error message indicating that "an
error occured while importing this file ...."  I have
tried this with numerous jpg files I have which I have
easily inserted into Word 2002 and earlier programs, but
with no success with Word 2003.  I have downloaded and
installed the latest converters, again without any
success.  The only jpg files that I can seem to get to
load are those include in the sample files under the my
pictures directory.

Files created in earlier versions of Word with the same
files load and display properly, but even with these I
cannot insert even the same graphic files.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Hi Tom,

Was Word 2003 upgraded over Word 2002 or is this a new install?
It's possible that the graphics filters are corrupted.

If you have [x] Confirm Conversions at Open
turned on in Tools=>Options=>General what file type does the
converter think the graphic is when importing it?

If you try this on a new JPG graphic file do you have the
same issue?
