Here is what I did, and I understand this is likely caused by
something I don't understand.
Word 97
I made a letterhead, the same as the printed letterhead in Word. I
converted it to a draw object and grouped it so it wouldn't be edited
by accident. Saved that as a template. So far so good. I can open the
template and type the letter on the template, no problem. Draw
object at the top.
But what I need to do is make a file for the work for a particular
date, it could be 30 pages, and while SOME of those pages are on
letterhead, some are second sheets and are not.
This is the snag I have now. Though I can open the template and type
there is only one letterhead. And I haven't figured out how to
cut/paste the letterhead draw object.
I can select the draw pointer from the draw toolbar, select the
letterhead draw object, ctrl-c copy it to clipboard, make a new page
(insert hard page break), ctrl-v to paste it in. And a draw object
appears to paste in correctly, but it is blank.
Ideally I would like to make a macro or toolbar button, something that
would insert the letterhead in the document on the subsequent pages
that require it.
What am I doing wrong?
Why does the draw object paste as blank?
How can I assign insertion of a draw object to a toolbar button, macro
or keystroke?
How can the object be "locked" so it will paste centered on the page
and require no fiddling? I made the draw object the width of the paper
but I am not sure how well that works. Well, pasting it doesn't seem
to work at all now.

See http://home.zebra.net/~sbarnhill/Letterhead.htm to set up a template
with different formatting on the first page. Whenever you want to repeat
your first-page formatting, insert a "Next page" section break.
