Hi Sudharsan,

Word creates a graphic in a format suitable for typical
web use when you save as web page.  If the picture is
resized, then it outputs both the original sized graphic
and the 'display' size (your resizing) from the document
so that you can have both web browser support and the
ability to reconstitute the original Word document from
the web version.

You can adjust some of the conversion by setting the
PNG choice and lowering the browser compatability to
a lower version in Tools=>Options=>General=>[Web Options]

For Word 2000 you can also use the Office HTML Filter
from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads to produce
a leaner web document with only a single, web form of
the graphic, but save your original file in .doc format
in that case for later updates you may want to do as not
all of the original content is preserved in the filtered
format for rebuilding the .doc file content.

I am using Word 2000 on a Win 2k machine.

When i insert PNG or BMP(of bigger size) images and save
the document as a webPage, Word creates a JPEG file for
each of these PNG and BMP in addition to saving them in
the original format.

Is it possible to avoid this automatic conversion? I would
like to have the images only in the original format.
