Pasting online pictures gives me the hyperlink instead

I used to paste pictures from online without a problem. Now when i do the
same thing all i get is the hyperlink, the picture shows up in the clipboard
but the hyperlink is what gets pasted on the document.

What happens if you use Alt+F9 to toggle off the field codes?

Instead of a regular paste or Ctrl+V, try clicking on Edit | Paste
Special | Paste: As: Picture | OK.
