How do I change default picture layout so it does NOT move w/text
Phil Morris - 30 Dec 2005 08:47 GMT
When i put  a piccy into a doc i always do the following to have it move
freely (mostly cos i do photo album pages wth Word)

from Insert->Picture>From File... picture

Right click picture
select Format Picture...
click Layout Tab
click In front of text
click Advanced... button
Picture Position Tab
In Options deselect 'Move object with text'
ok
ok

Now you can drag the picture any place you like without disturbing the text/

I have tried to make this into a macro but it didnt work in Word 2000,
havent tried recently.

FWIW, if you have inserted a lot of pictures that you want to have the same
position, you can go through this process for one, then select the next and
F4. It's also possible that you can copy and paste the format (Ctrl+Shift+C
and Ctrl+Shift+V or use the Format Painter).

Thanks, folks, I currently use both these methods.
What I really want is to change the Default for th picture layout.

In Word 2002 and 2003, you can get as far as choosing the wrapping style
(there's an option on the Edit tab of Tools | Options), but this option is
not available in Word 2000. I recently discovered another shortcut: you can
add an Insert Picture button to your toolbar that gets you through Insert |
Picture | From File. I suspect this probably *is* available in Word 2000.

Suzanne, You Darling,

I already have the tool bar button to inset pictures.  But it still inserts
pictures defaulted as anchored to text.

Now the Tool | Options | Edit just so happens to get the job done!!  The
pictures are still anchored to text, but are no longer "In Line With Text",
and that is a HUGE step forward.  I can co-exist with this fix...

Thank you, Thank You  for relieving one of life's frustrations.

Rick
