When i drag & drop pictures into word, they are either invisible except for
the dots around the edge, but they will print, but i can't resise them.
if they are visible i can resize but not print them.
What am i doing wrong?

Make sure of the following:

1. On the View tab of Tools | Options, you have "Drawings" checked and
"Picture placeholders" NOT checked.

2. On the Print tab of Tools | Options, you have "Drawing objects" checked.

"Drawings" or "Drawing objects" are objects in the drawing layer, which
include all wrapped graphics. If your graphic can be freely dragged around
the page (and has circular white sizing handles), it's wrapped. If it
behaves like a font character (and has square black sizing handles), it is
In Line With Text. Inline graphics are displayed in Normal view; wrapped
graphics are not. You can change the wrapping of a graphic on the menu that
appears when you click on the Text Wrapping button (dog icon) on the Picture
toolbar (which should be displayed when you select a graphic).
