Wordart not showing up, only outline ??

Hi,

I have Office Pro 2003, and am trying to use WordArt to insert some text,
but all I'm getting is the box outline, no content. Only place the content
shows is in "Reading" mode.. ??

What isn't set correctly? I've looked through everything I can think of. I
see nothing that will allow me to fix this.

Any help appreciated. This is a project for my daughter due tomorrow in
school.

On the View tab of Tools | Options, make sure that "Drawings" is checked and
"Picture placeholders" is NOT checked.
