Press Alt+F9 to toggle from field codes (what you see now) to field results.

Hi Baz,

If it appears correctly on screen but prints the shape code, then:

If in Word 2007,
 Office Button=>Word Options=>Advanced=>Print
turn off '[x] Print field code instead of their values'.

If in earlier Word
 Tools=>Options=>Print=>Include with Document
and turn off [x] Field codes

=============
when trying to print an organisation chart, it prints {shape \*mergeformat}.
